St. James School...
- Is one of the oldest, Catholic elementary schools in Louisville, continuously operating since 1906.
- Provides an opportunity for a quality catholic school education to students as far away as the West End of Louisville.
- Has a mission to support the West End, by offering free bus service to and from the Portland neighborhood.
- Is the most diverse school within the archdiocese, catering to students from various financial backgrounds.
- Has a maximum student/teacher ratio of 15-1, educating students age 3 through 8th grade.
- Raises additional funds to support a healthy "grab and go" breakfast every morning and free pizza Fridays for all students, along with a Blessings in a Backpack program for those in need.
- Provides opportunities for tuition assistance through the Catholic Education Foundation and generous parishioners.
- Employs a full-time learning coordinator.
