AS A TEAM, WE WILL ACCOMPLISH MORE
Volunteers for any school or parish ministries and activities that have regular contact with children must complete the required background check forms and Safe Environment Training. These requirements help ensure that all school volunteers have been properly screened prior to working with our children.
For safety and security reasons, all school visitors (volunteers, parents, etc.) must sign in at the school office. All visitors and/or volunteers are required to wear a designated badge that is given at sign in.
A volunteer operates in a position of trust. Personal information pertaining to students must be kept confidential. Children’s actions, responses, progress, or problems at school are not for sharing in the community. Conversations between parents, teachers, and students in the school are confidential. Volunteers should not discuss these conversations outside of school.
Volunteers are expected to adhere to school rules and procedures, perform assigned tasks to the best of their ability, work cooperatively with all staff, and see clarification when necessary.
The Archdiocese of Louisville is committed to ensuring that children and youth who worship, study or participate in church-sponsored activities can do so in the safest and most secure setting possible. In an effort to fulfill this commitment, all employees or volunteers who have contact with children or youth (18 and under) for ANY length of time are required to participate in one of the 2-hour Safe Environment Training Workshops.
You must fill out and sign a background permission check form in the school office.
The Safe Environment Program will cover the following topics:
• Identifying signs of child sexual abuse
• Understanding the dynamics of child sexual abuse, including how children are groomed and how they may attempt to reveal their experience
• How to take action in response to child sexual abuse, including obligation to report and caring for the abused child
• Becoming familiar with new archdiocesan policies and Code of Conduct regarding work with children
You can register for the Safe Environment Training online.
