School Closing Information
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

Delayed Schedule Due to Weather

On delayed schedule, school begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. Remember to always check your television on mornings when we have potentially bad weather to check on the status of the school and/or day care. Remember too, that the Day Care will post its own schedule if the school is closed. The two main stations to watch to get this info are WLKY and WAVE 3. You may also call the school number and press extension #11 for updated information.
You may also call the school and press extension #26 to see if any day care providers will be in school on snow days. This is subject to inclement weather reports, such as the possibility of heavy snow, a tornado, or unusual rainy conditions.
Once students arrive at St. James, because of the number of working parents' needs, all means will be used to keep school in session until the usual dismissal time of 2:45 p.m. After school care will be closed if the School is closed.

Snow Days and Emergency Closing
When weather conditions cause school openings to be questionable, one of the following announcements will be made, via all major radio and television stations, for Catholic Elementary Schools in Jefferson County:
All Catholic Schools in Jefferson County are open, St. James is open and on regular schedules.
All Catholic elementary schools in Jefferson County are closed. St. James is closed. (Our Pre-School and Pre-K programs will be closed.) After School Care may be open depending on staff attendance. Please call school (454-0330, ext. 11) for opening information.
If Catholic Schools are on a delayed schedule, K – 8 students will begin school at 9:00 a.m. (Pre-school and Pre- Kindergarten will begin at regular time. Parents with children in early daycare must call St. James [454-0330, ext.11] to check if staff has arrived before dropping off children.)

"Designated NAC schools will be closed; all others will be operating on their regular schedule." St. James will be open and will operate on the regular schedule, since we are an air–conditioned school.
