St. James 5th & 6th Grade

The 5/6 th grade class will pursue a study of faith correlating with the four parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: We Believe, We Worship, We Love, and We pray.

Students will discover how things work in our natural world through inquiry in science. Grades 5 and 6 follow an integrated study of physical, life, Earth, and space as well as personal and social perspectives in science.

We explore American history from the development of civilization in the Western Hemisphere to the U. S. emerging as a world power. We study geography using the five themes of geography, economics by using the authentic model of the Stock Market Game, and personal finance by visiting Biz City.

The art of language includes a study of spelling and vocabulary. We read plays and analyze literature and poetry. We study grammar and the techniques of good readers in order to become good writers.

Sixth grade math students are trying to spend one million dollars with tax. While the fifth grade is learning math operations.
